Why is darrell from the office in an office
Four pages? Is this the same Darryl Philbin who's had two jobs in ten years at one company? Darryl: Yes, thanks to you, who promoted me, after we, uh, interfaced. Jo: "Coordinated and implemented receipt storage and delivery of over 2. Darryl: Paper material, ma'am. Jo: Paper material?
Darryl: [softly] Pieces of paper. Quote from Kelly. Kelly: What was that? Gabe: We just have a lot of serious candidates to get through today, so Kelly: Am I not a serious candidate?
Gabe: What do you want me to say? I mean, there's a line of qualified people out there. We have a video CV from England. Kelly: I don't have any, ass[bleep]. Quote from Ryan. Ryan: I want an outsider. Jim: Perfect. There are several outside candidates that we think would be really- Ryan: No, I mean an outsider.
Like someone on the margins of society, who doesn't see things the way we do, like a homeless person. Pam: A homeless person. A homeless person. Ryan: No, you're right, Pam, let's just leave him to the welfare system and let that handle it.
Pam: No, I want you to say that you think the best person to be our new manager is a homeless person. Ryan: Let me guess who you want, Pam. Here's what the star has been doing since his final days as Darryl at Dunder-Mifflin. Throughout The Office 's nine season run, Darryl spent a lot of his time butting heads with Michael Scott, whose abuse of office equipment and seeming fondness for workplace hazards never failed to be a thorn his side at one point, Michael even yanked a ladder out from underneath Darryl, which resulted in a broken ankle.
In later seasons, Darryl took up residence in one of the smaller offices upstairs after impressing a new investor in Dunder-Mifflin played by Kathy Bates , and he formed intense bonds with other people in the office, even briefly dating Kelly Kapoor Mindy Kaling and becoming close friends with coworkers like Andy Bernard Ed Helms. Outside of the office, he cared for his young daughter Jada, proving himself as a great parent.
By the end of the show, after starting a successful sports company called Athlead and leaving Scranton for Philadelphia, Darryl made a full-time move alongside Jim his Athlead cohort and Pam to Austin to run the company, reuniting with his ex-wife and living with her and Jada as a family again.
Over time — and especially after Michael's departure — Darryl magically stopped messing around with people. This was certainly a rather jarring change to witness firsthand, especially since most people associated his character with basically being a workplace bully of sorts. In a bid to make the character seem more likable in the eyes of viewers, Darryl was given more of a nice guy personality as the series went on. While one might argue that this was quite successful and Darryl genuinely became one of the better characters on the show, it still felt just a tad bit too jarring For someone who's supposed to be a nice guy, Darryl almost managed to convince Kevin to perform a rather heinous task that would've definitely made him look extremely bad in the eyes of viewers.
Kevin was almost coerced into bank fraud by taking a loan for a false reason, and Darryl's prize for suggesting this idea was a cut of the funds. Thankfully, the bank teller recognized Kevin and denied him any form of a loan, preventing Kevin from committing any crime. After Ryan gets a job in corporate and breaks up with Kelly, she decides to get back at her temporarily hotshot ex-boyfriend by getting together with Darryl instead. This relationship can be awfully cringey at times, and it's obvious to pretty much everyone that Kelly was just using Darryl as a way to make Ryan jealous.
The fact that Darryl still decided to go through this farce of a relationship is rather odd on his part indeed. Most of Darryl's romances have been painful to watch in The Office.
